Job description

Job Summary:
Place Services Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager, Data & Information Systems who will serve as a trusted advisor to executive management. This role involves overseeing technology, financial systems, and data infrastructure to support construction operations and corporate finance functions, while leading both the Accounting Systems and Data Reporting teams.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary data and systems voice to the CFO, Head of FP&A and executive team, translating technical strategy into business impact.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounting Systems Manager, Data Reporting Manager, and their respective direct reports.
• Build and present executive-level dashboards, briefings, and roadmaps that inform capital allocation and operational strategy.
• Champion a data-driven culture across Finance, Operations, and Project Management functions.
• Own the strategic roadmap and administration of core platforms including Acumatica (ERP/accounting), Procore (project management), and Velixo or comparable reporting tools.
• Oversee integrations between construction project management, field operations, and financial systems to ensure real-time data flow and accuracy.
• Lead the design and maintenance of construction-specific data models encompassing job cost accounting, WIP (work-in-progress), contract revenue recognition, subcontract management, and equipment utilization.
• Direct data governance practices — establishing data definitions, business rules, and controls that ensure consistency across project and financial reporting.
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies and system enhancements aligned with construction industry best practices.
• Apply a thorough understanding of construction accounting principles — including percentage-of-completion, cost-to-complete forecasting, and AIA billing — to ensure systems are configured and reporting accurately.
• Partner with the Controller and Accounting team on month-end close, WIP reporting, and job cost variance analysis.
• Ensure system controls and audit trails meet GAAP requirements and support external audit processes.
• Manage the Data/IS operating budget, vendor relationships, and software licensing agreements.
• Drive the development of enterprise reporting and analytics capabilities that provide real-time visibility into project performance, profitability, and financial health.
• Identify and lead automation and process improvement initiatives that reduce manual reporting effort and increase data reliability.
• Stay current on emerging technologies, construction software trends, and BI advancements relevant to the industry.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or CMA strongly preferred.
• 8–12+ years of progressive experience in financial systems, construction accounting, or data management, with 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
• Hands-on expertise with Acumatica ERP is highly preferred; experience with Procore and Velixo (or equivalent construction reporting tools) strongly desired.
• Deep knowledge of construction accounting principles: job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion, AIA billing, subcontract management, and lien waivers.
• Proven experience designing construction-specific data models and integrating project management systems with financial platforms.
• Strong command of BI and reporting tools; experience with Power BI, Velixo, or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated executive presence — able to present confidently to C-suite and board-level audiences and influence decisions through data storytelling.
• Experience leading cross-functional technology implementations or system migrations in a construction environment.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.
