What is Dama Sponsorship?

Dama Sponsorship refers to a system in some countries, such as Saudi Arabia, where a local individual or company (the 'dama' or sponsor) assumes legal responsibility for a foreign worker or resident. The sponsor handles visa processing, work permits, and often has significant control over the individual's ability to change jobs or leave the country. This system is commonly used to regulate the employment and residency of expatriates, but it has also been criticized for limiting workers' rights and freedom.
