Job description

Job Title: Supplier Development Engineer

Position Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

  • Plan to select target suppliers through verification of quality and delivery KPIs and data.
  • Verification of contracts or other preproduction agreements to gain foundations for fair judgment.
  • Coordinate and facilitate virtual and in-person meetings across cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, production control, commercial, projects, etc.) to align perspectives, develop PFUs (Problem Follow-Up Sheets), and document meeting outcomes, including action items, responsible parties, and timelines to ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Lead improvements of quality and delivery of AISIN's suppliers towards AISIN's KPI targets through supervisory and technical advisory to supplier utilizing techniques and knowledge of processes.
  • Go-and-see verification for establishing, completing and verifying effectiveness of specific countermeasures on-site at supplier locations, AISIN plants or at customer locations when necessary.
  • Foster calm, fair, and professional collaboration with suppliers and internal AISIN Group stakeholders to drive both short-term resolutions and long-term technical and commercial success.

Required Skills and Abilities

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in quality, engineering or other positions that require technical coordination.
  • Positive attitude and proactive mindset, contributing to a constructive and solution-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret product drawings and datum schemes, and apply this understanding to production process controls while leading cross-functional teams, including suppliers and AISIN stakeholders.
  • Strong communication or people skills and experiences for effective communications with internal and external resources for establishing trust.

Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • Understanding and experiences in PPAP processes, Cpk evaluation and/or process validations.
  • Six sigma or ability to assess the process stability and analyze the root-causes of product concerns relating to processes (such as any of riveting, welding, fastening, injection molding, stamping, forging, machining, die casting, etc.)
  • Supervisory or management experiences in engineering, manufacturing, project management or technically involved functions.

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Engineering, Technology, Industry, Supplier Management, etc. or 5+ years of relevant experience in Engineering.
  • Certificate or equivalent experiences of process capability, process control, launch management.

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 25 %
  • Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
