Job Description:
The Functions Controlling position reports directly to the Head of Central & Functions Controlling in Airbus Americas, Inc. In this role, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating all Planning and Controlling for all Airbus Americas, Inc. functions under their responsibility. Activities include working closely with the Heads of Functions and the Finance community on plan deviation monitoring, cost controlling, budget creation.
The jobholder also supports the Operating Plan (AOP) process, Monthly Financial Reporting. Jobholder runs the financial control process of the Corporate Functions across the North America Region to ensure adherence to company policies and practices. They also ensure effective communication and coordination between all parties involved (Accounting, Controlling, Tax, Treasury, Financial Systems, Human Resources, Operations and Executive Leadership).
The position requires the incumbent to provide leadership in a variety of exciting ways, take responsibility for the prioritization of work within this function and in relation to the dependencies with other Functions, act as a liaison between the different customers and the Executive Management, and deliver resourceful, compelling and financial sound analytics.
This position will lead the AI improvement and implementation for the functions controlling team and be expected to develop use cases cross functionally with Digital and Finance Transformation teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
Functional Controlling: 35%
  • Prepare monthly reporting of the Airbus Americas operating costs by cost centers and functions, coordinate with other controllers to ensure accuracy of data and propose improvements to the consolidation process.
  • Support monthly close by working closely with the accounting team and advice on corrections. Ensure that objectives are delivered and provide support as needed. Review monthly cost allocations and connect with headquarters to update / improve processes.
  • Ensure quality of year-to-date actual data through consistency checks with financial system reporting, general accounting, and purchasing officers of the function. Review month-end results and request corrections as needed.
  • Regular reviews with the Airbus Americas Executive Management to provide financial understanding of the functions and business in order to help them achieve their OP targets by providing financial information.
  • Digitalization and automation of reporting using Tableau, SAP, Google Sheets and other controlling tools.
  • Consolidation of function actuals and budgets across the North American entities.
  • Development of cross functional reports to highlight variances (such as personnel, open purchase order commitments, etc) to report across the team.

Central Planning: 35%
  • Support the preparation of the five-year Operating Budget for the Airbus Americas. perimeter (AOP), with focus on Corporate Functions and handle the budget with the internal and external functions to enable the preparation of the Airbus consolidated Budget Letter Agreement.
  • Deliver outlooks and forecasts periodically after identifying risks and opportunities to budget, in coordination with each department leadership and function controlling.
  • Support the Controlling Group View, focusing on the cost reporting for Airbus in the USA.
  • Perform variance analysis on actuals vs. budget; identify budget underrun/overrun and implement actions to meet plan objectives. Communicate the monthly year-to-date and year-end overviews for all internal customers. Meet with functions on a regular basis to discuss upcoming activities and assess current and future needs.
  • Supervise headcount changes to ensure budget alignment, and for corrective and forecast purposes. Discuss changes with central functions to ensure headcount variations are within budget.
  • Improve end to end controlling processes and documentation across functions.
  • Support the roadmap for on time reporting across divisions and functions.

Shared Services and other tasks: 30%
  • Partner with Financial Transformation to scope accounting and reporting requirements related to tool implementation, and make recommendations on the best way of action.
  • Make decisions for sustainable financial and reporting solutions such as most appropriate financial structure and needed reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure consistency of data and financial reports by testing new platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with the existing accounting, finance and procurement processes, identify areas of improvement and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Develop and improve AI capabilities of reportings including integration of gemini into functions controlling regular activities.

Other duties as assigned:
  • Supervise the purchasing process and propose corrective actions when needed.
  • Release purchase requisitions for values up to $100k to ensure spending is within budget limit and supplementary check monthly accruals on Blanket Purchase Orders.
  • Support the Head of Planning, Controlling and Reporting and other management in special projects.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Education:
  • BS in Business Administration, Economics or Finance required
  • Additional accounting/financial studies preferred (CPA, MBA...)

Experience:
  • Six (6) years or more of experience in finance and/or accounting in a commercial or industrial environment involving tight delivery windows.

Knowledge, Skills, Capabilities:
  • Leadership in resolving or raising issue resolution, team building, training and team support.
  • Ability organizing and coordinating multiple tasks, building strong cross functional relationships and communicating well with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate analytical capacities to synthesize large quantities of complex data to generate meaningful insights

Communication Skills:
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills
  • Fluent in English

Technical Systems Proficiency:
  • SAP, Google Suite, Tableau, Gemini

Travel Required:
  • Domestic and International travel may be required for business meetings and training purposes

Work Authorization:
  • Must be authorized to work in US without the need for visa sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:
  • Onsite or remote: 60% on site, 40% remote
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents and reports. Reading the screen or paper is 75% of the time.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone on a daily basis.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications on a daily basis
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment
  • Carrying: able to carry documents and personal computer, carry hand luggages through airports for travel.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, personal computer and luggages when traveling.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer on a daily basis.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices on a daily basis.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice up to 50% of the time
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and airports during travel

Salary Range:
Salary range based on the required profile: $110,000 - $130,000/year. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on geographic differential. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
