Job Role and Responsibility: Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring Silicon Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Perform definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development. Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation. Define module interfaces/formats for simulation. Contribute to the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Under supervision, exercise limited judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires experience in the following:

  • Electromigration and IR drop concept, impact, and mitigation;
  • EMIR flow methodology and analysis tool;
  • RTL level digital circuit design, simulation, physical design and verification;
  • CMOS transistor level circuit design, simulation, physical design and verification;
  • Verilog / VHDL;
  • Front-End ASIC design tools (simulation, synthesis, static timing analysis);
  • Back-End EDA tools (physical design, back-end verification);
  • Unix/Linux environments; and
  • C/C++, TCL, and Python.

Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience.
