Job description

About Subquadratic
Subquadratic (SubQ) is an AI infrastructure and research company building a new class of LLMs on a proprietary post-transformer architecture. While the major labs focus on incremental transformer improvements, we're pushing foundational change at the model architecture level - enabling large-context, multimodal inference that scales efficiently where transformers can't.
About the role
SubQ is building a next-generation LLM platform designed for efficient, long-context AI applications. We're looking for a Founding Developer Advocate to help launch and grow the developer ecosystem around this platform.
This role will serve as the bridge between SubQ's product and the broader developer community-building relationships, educating developers, and creating technical content that demonstrates how to build with SubQ. As the first person in this role, you'll help define what developer advocacy looks like at SubQ from day one.
What you'll do
Produce video content
  • Own the production of launch videos, capability demos, and technical walkthroughs- from scripting and on-camera presentation through to final edit
  • Build a library of high-production-value video content that makes SubQ's capabilities concrete and shareable across developer communities
  • Collaborate with external production partners on major launch moments while maintaining the ability to ship polished content independently

Build the developer ecosystem
  • Build reference applications, demos, and GitHub starter repositories that show developers how to build real-world applications using SubQ's LLM platform
  • Create technical launch content including written tutorials, walkthroughs, and example projects demonstrating what long-context enables in practice
  • Develop quickstarts, guides, and developer resources that reduce time-to-first-value for new users

Engage the developer community
  • Build relationships within the developer ecosystem through meetups, events, and hackathons
  • Represent SubQ at industry events and conferences in the Bay Area and beyond
  • Foster developer conversations and feedback loops across GitHub, Discord, and technical communities where practitioners are active

Create technical content
  • Produce blog posts, benchmark walkthroughs, and architectural deep-dives written for engineers- not marketing audiences
  • Develop demos and example applications that make SubQ's capabilities concrete, not theoretical

Collaborate cross-functionally
  • Surface developer feedback to product and engineering- what's missing, what's confusing, what's creating friction
  • Partner with marketing to support developer-focused go-to-market initiatives

Qualifications
  • Experience in Developer Advocacy, Developer Relations, or a similar technical community-facing role
  • Strong on-camera presence and a track record of producing polished technical video content - launch demos, product walkthroughs, or developer-focused series
  • End-to-end video production capability: scripting, on-camera delivery, and editing. You can ship high-quality video independently without a full production team behind you
  • Strong technical background with hands-on application and/or AI app development experience and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly through demos, talks, and written content
  • Ability to create technical content engineers actually share: reference implementations, architectural walkthroughs, benchmark deep-dives
  • Comfort presenting at meetups, conferences, and in technical communities
  • Passion for engaging developer communities and building relationships
  • Interest in LLMs, agent infrastructure, and developer tooling
  • Ideally based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with the ability to attend in-person developer events and travel occasionally

Nice to Have
  • You've built production systems using LLM APIs- not just written about them
  • An existing audience or published body of technical video content
  • Experience collaborating with external video production teams

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base salary
  • Performance-based bonus aligned with company and growth goals
  • Equity participation
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Company provided MacBook computer
  • Unlimited time off
  • Flexible work environment. Bay Area preferred, remote considered for exceptional candidate

This is an early and highly impactful role. You'll help define how SubQ goes to market and scales growth from the ground up.
