Job Summary

Performs equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, operational functions, and new work to support the Facilities Engineering Department. Documents all work. Must be available for Call-Back in emergency situations.

Essential Functions

  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.

  • Maintains and repairs non-biomedical electronic equipment including, but not limited to, the AGV system, tube system, sterilizers, gas system, PA system, code system, cameras (medical), TV system, ETV system, surgical tables, and dumb waiter.

  • Makes repairs to the AGV system like evaluating safety bumpers and repairing as necessary. Ensures object detectors are functioning properly. Ensures all screws and covers are in place after repair.

  • Keeps all batteries in the AGV system charged. Repairs or replaces batteries as needed.

  • Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and documents completion. Detects repairs necessary and implements repair requests. Recommends PM frequency changes and additions or deletions to PM schedule.

  • Evaluates and adjusts all cameras, monitors, switches, and cabling for surveillance system. Adjusts, adds channels, corrects any components of the TV antenna system including tuning equipment and satellite equipment.

  • Utilizes material in a cost-effective manner.

  • Clears alarms in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for documenting all material or equipment used for each project.

  • Makes repairs to the tube system as they occur. Able to restart the system after repairs are made. Checks and adjusts/repairs all surgical tables at GMMC. Performs work accurately and records all data.

  • Changes out gas cylinders during first shift and repairs gas manifold controls and follows up with vendors to ensure repairs are completed. Maintains and adjusts/installs interfacing equipment and annunciators in the communications department.

  • Performs scheduled tests to comply with Joint Commission, DPH, and other standards.

  • Adheres to On-Call schedule.

  • Collects statistical data and reports to show trends and misuse of systems.

  • Ensures that the sterilization equipment and cart washer function in accordance with guidelines

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned. Associate degree in Electronics of 18 months minimum in length preferred. Vocational Training in Computers/Electronics preferred

  • Experience - Five (5) years digital/electronic experience.

  • A valid driver's license; an acceptable motor vehicle record, as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart; and proof of auto insurance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Mathematical skills

  • Effective at data conversion

  • Ability to read electronic schematics and all other drawings.

  • Knowledge of the pneumatic tube system

  • Ability to use the AGV computer to run the system and use it as a tool for trouble shooting.

  • Ability to restart the AGV system after shutdown.

  • Ability to find problems with the AGV track/ Opto/Data Term system.
