Job description

 Position Summary
A Retail and Markets Associate with Farmhouse Table plays a key role as the “face” of the brand to our community; often being the first point of contact for visitors, families, and supporters.  Our small but vibrant farm store features locally sourced merchandise, scratch baked items from our in-house bakery, and fresh local cheeses and salads.  Through the Retail and Markets Associate community members check in at the Brighton Market or at our Shop in Irondequoit, and is where they first experience our mission, values, and inclusive culture.  The Retail and Markets Associate is responsible for maintaining stock levels, tracking sales, supporting purchasing decisions, and verifying all products are properly packaged, labeled, and displayed.  With the guidance of the Retail Manager, they ensure the store operates efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with the standards and sustainability goals of Farmhouse Table.  On market days the Retail and Markets Associate is responsible for all aspects of the market; from packing & transport, setup & breakdown, while representing the brand and promoting the Farmhouse Table mission and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
·       Partner with Retail Management to create a welcoming farm store experience and overseeing the operation of the shop for all customers and community members.
·       Maintain accurate inventory of all store products, including produce, baked goods, seasonal fruit, and locally sourced items.
·       Communicate inventory needs and suggestions to Retail Manager for ordering.
·       Ensure all products are properly stored, rotated, packaged, labeled, and attractively displayed.
·       Oversee all point-of-sale operations including transactions, billing, refunds, discounts, and end-of-day/week reconciliation.
·       Setup, maintain, and clean self-serve beverage stations and bakery display.
·       Prepare and package simple menu items including beverages, soups, and salads.
·       On market days package, transport, setup & breakdown the market tent and displays, act as point-of-sales representative, while promoting the Farmhouse Table Mission and Values.

 
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
·       1-3 years’ experience in inventory management, sales, agritourism, farm markets, farm retail sales, or related enterprises.
·       Experience with point-of-sale systems (Square preferred).
·       Experience with inventory management, stocking, or product merchandising is preferred.
·       Strong Organizational Skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
·       Experience working with seasonal agricultural products is highly valued.
·       Ability to solve customer needs with flexibility, positivity, and professionalism.
·       Ability to multitask with excellent communication and strong customer service skills.
·       Comfort working with perishable goods, seasonal products, and local food systems.
·       Time management skills and schedule flexibility.
·       Basic proficiency or ability to learn technology including POS systems.
·       English speaking, writing, and reading proficiency.
·       Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation to work.
