Job Description:
Job Summary:
Performs work required to maintain efficient operation of plants and equipment in support of mining and aggregate material production activities. This role involves operating heavy equipment, assisting with plant maintenance, and completing physical tasks necessary to ensure continuous and safe operation of aggregate processing equipment, and acts as a mentor to others.
Main Responsibilities:
โ€ข Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
โ€ข Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
โ€ข Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly; acts as a mentor to others and leads by example
โ€ข Communicate professionally with others in person, over the phone, and on company radio channels
โ€ข Operate heavy equipment, including, but not limited to, bulldozers, motor graders, loaders, skid steers, excavators, water trucks, telehandlers, and service/pickup trucks used in aggregate mining and production operations; operate other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasks
โ€ข Grade and maintain mine roadways and work areas, maintain surge pile, and prep blast areas
โ€ข Move shot rock and load jaw crusher feeder
โ€ข Move and stockpile material, load trucks, operate scale, and handle order tickets to support sales yard operations
โ€ข Operates salt-sand plant
โ€ข Perform manual/physical tasks required in plant operation and maintenance activities
โ€ข Work closely with plant operators, drivers, and others to ensure efficient and safe mining and plant operation in support of efficient materials production
โ€ข Perform pre-operational inspection of equipment and detect mechanical and/or safety issues
โ€ข Perform mobile equipment maintenance, including lubrication, replacing oil/fluids, re-fueling, and cleaning; assist with minor equipment repair tasks
โ€ข Assist with plant/crusher equipment maintenance, repair and troubleshooting
โ€ข Assist with training/mentoring others regarding mobile equipment, mining, and plant production operations
Education:
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent preferred
โ€ข MSHA certification or ability to obtain certification required
โ€ข Valid drivers' license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required
Skills:
โ€ข 5+ years of relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of training/experience in a similar role
โ€ข Mechanical skill and experience with mobile equipment and plant equipment maintenance; basic welding experience
โ€ข Proficiency in operation of most/all industrial and heavy equipment used in the operation, including but not limited to skid steers, D9 bulldozer, 330L excavator w/ attachments, 903/980K/988H loaders, water truck, telehandler forklift, service/pickup trucks
โ€ข Proficiency with mobile devices and other technology used in daily operations
โ€ข Ability to read and interpret signage and/or written instructions (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.)
โ€ข Ability to problem-solve and recommend solutions
โ€ข Ability to work in a team environment and identify tasks and objectives independently with limited supervision
โ€ข Ability to interact professionally with others and clearly communicate information
Physical Requirements:
โ€ข Wears and maintains required PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities as required
โ€ข Regularly uses hands to handle tools, equipment, and materials necessary for completing operational tasks safely and efficiently
โ€ข Regularly communicate (talk and hear) to support safe coordination, instruction, and teamwork in the work environment
โ€ข Regularly stands for extended periods and moves across various surfaces or terrain to access different work areas and complete assigned tasks
โ€ข Regularly works in changing environmental conditions (such as outdoor weather, dust, or airborne particles) due to the nature of operational work sites
โ€ข Regularly works near fuels, oils, and other common workplace chemicals associated with operating or supporting equipment and machinery
โ€ข Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds with or without assistance to handle materials, tools, equipment, or documents essential to the role
โ€ข Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches, and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls to access work areas and complete required tasks
โ€ข Frequently works in environments that may include loud noise, moving equipment, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor conditions depending on operational needs
โ€ข Occasionally works at heights or near electrical hazards when tasks require elevated access or proximity to electrical components
โ€ข Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime; overnight travel may be required
