What is an agency paralegal?

They assist with legal research, draft documents, organize files, and support case management for matters involving administrative law, regulatory compliance, or public policy. Agency Paralegals play a crucial role in ensuring that legal processes are conducted efficiently, and they often interact with both internal teams and external stakeholders. Their work helps attorneys prepare for hearings, trials, and regulatory proceedings.

How does an agency paralegal typically collaborate with attorneys and other legal professionals within the agency?

Agency Paralegals work closely with attorneys, investigators, and sometimes administrative staff to support case preparation, legal research, and document management. They are often responsible for drafting correspondence, organizing evidence, and ensuring all filings comply with agency protocols and deadlines. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are essential, as paralegals frequently coordinate between multiple team members to keep cases moving efficiently. This collaborative environment helps paralegals develop a broad understanding of legal processes and can open doors for career advancement within the agency.

Job description

Transactional Paralegal — Forney, TX Area

Our small boutique law firm in the Forney area is seeking an experienced paralegal to join the team.

In this role, you will assist the lead attorney across a range of transactional and non-litigation matters. You will need excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication, sharp proofreading ability, and the judgment to operate with minimal supervision once oriented. We are looking for a paralegal with three or more years of experience who can prioritize effectively and manage multiple matters concurrently.

The role focuses on drafting legal documents, client correspondence, and supporting the attorney through every stage of a matter — from intake to closing. This is a non-litigation position; courtroom work, depositions, and litigation discovery are not part of the role.

Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of paralegal experience in a transactional practice
  • Ability to interpret and summarize bank, brokerage, and other financial statements
  • Effective communication with clients, financial institutions, government agencies, courts, and attorneys
  • Familiarity with Texas court rules and county-level filing procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent accuracy on filed documents
  • Ability to manage your own caseload and meet deadlines without prompting
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with legal practice management software preferred (Clio, CosmoLex, MyCase, or similar)
  • Notary commission, or willingness to obtain one, is a plus

What we offer:

  • Hourly compensation of $25 to $35, depending on experience
  • Primarily in-office role at our Forney-area office
  • Paid time off, paid sick leave, paid holidays, and 401(k) eligibility after a qualifying period
  • Mileage reimbursement for any required travel between offices
  • Stable small-firm environment with direct mentorship from the lead attorney

To apply, please send your resume and a brief note describing your transactional paralegal background.
