Program Coordinator, Afterschool Program

Job Summary

During the school year, the Program Coordinator, Afterschool Program, will assist the Associate Director, Children's Enrichment and Engagement with the daily Afterschool programming operations. This role will provide support to counselors and enrichment specialists, and will be a contact point for parents, as needed. During the summer, the Program Coordinator will have a support role atCamp K'Ton Ton.

Job Responsibilities Include
    Answer the Afterschool phone line and email mailbox to support parents with questions they may have.
  • Complete daily set up of all rooms prior to program commencement for Afterschool, Nursery Afterschool, and Camp K'Ton Ton.
  • Coordinate transportation from schools to 92NY.
  • Oversee the coordination of escorting of children to and from classes within the 92NY facility.
  • Provide guidance and clarification to Afterschool staff regarding their responsibilities and daily duties.
  • Support the Associate Director, Children's Enrichment and Engagement in formulating and administering a mentoring and professional development plan for Afterschool staff that will empower them to find pathways towards promotion and greater responsibility.
  • Assist in the programming of organized supplementary Clubhouse activities for children.
  • Assist, when necessary, Afterschool staff in the behavioral management of children.
  • Reserve rooms through the room scheduling system for all Afterschool, Nursery Afterschool, and Camp K'Ton Ton's needs.
  • Check in daily at beginning and end of program day with theAssistanr Director, Children's Enrichment & Engagement to discuss any updates, changes, and curriculum for the day.
  • Order program food and supplies for Afterschool, Nursery Afterschool, and Camp K'Ton Ton and communicate budgetary needs. Work with the Finance Department to ensure payroll is completed for Afterschool, Nursery Afterschool and K'Ton Ton staff.
  • Utilize and maintain database records as well as assist customer service department with billing and registration process for Afterschool, Nursery Afterschool and Camp K'Ton Ton.
  • Input all vendor payments for Afterschool, Nursery Afterschool and Camp K'Ton Ton.
  • Other tasks and duties reasonably related to the job may be assigned.
Experience, Education, & Skills Desired
  • High School Diploma.
  • Previous employment and experience working with children in grades K through 6 in a recreational setting and/or educational environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills especially with children, counselors, and parents.
  • Service-oriented, with skills and talents in addressing the needs of staff and colleagues, being responsive to such needs and listening with compassion and openness.
  • Strong attention to details, with advanced problem-solving skills, sound judgment and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to focus on several projects, multitask and prioritize effectively.
Work Environment & Requirements

36.25 hours per week, with a 45-minute meal break. Monday-Friday, 10:30 am to 6:30 pm. Summer hours will be Monday-Friday, 7:45 am to 3:45 pm approximately between the last week in June to mid-August.

Compensation Range

$45,000 - $55,000

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
