Job description

Position Summary 

The Clinical Outcomes & Data Abstractor is responsible for the accurate collection, abstraction, analysis, and submission of clinical and quality data to support regulatory reporting, registry participation, and organizational performance improvement initiatives. This role ensures data integrity, identifies opportunities for clinical quality improvement, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support data-driven decision-making and patient safety efforts. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Abstract, collect, validate, and submit clinical data from medical records in accordance with established definitions and protocols 

  • Ensure timely and accurate data submission to internal databases and external registries 

  • Monitor data integrity and meet audit requirements 

  • Analyze data to identify trends, benchmark variances, and opportunities for improvement 

  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to support data-driven decision making 

  • Participate in clinical and quality meetings 

  • Maintain knowledge of evolving regulatory standards and reporting requirements 

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports 

  • Support quality initiatives and process improvement efforts 

  • Work with vendors and registry support teams 

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Education & Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 

  • Graduate of an accredited healthcare program preferred 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred 

  • Minimum one year experience in a healthcare or clinical setting 

Licensure & Certification 

  • Licensed healthcare professional preferred 

  • Ability to obtain required registry certifications 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Strong clinical data abstraction and chart review skills 

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data 

  • Knowledge of quality improvement principles 

  • Strong communication skills 

  • Attention to detail 

  • Basic statistical knowledge preferred 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 

  • Experience with database systems preferred 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods 

  • Manual dexterity for computer work 

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds 

  • Vision and hearing within normal range 

Work Environment 

  • Primarily day shift 

  • Office and clinical environment
