Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Technology , the analyst enters data into and extracts data from system-wide databases preparing reports for use by teachers and administrators.This position analyzes data to develop spreadsheets, reports and presentations that provide formative and summative data useful in evaluating and improving instruction.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated techniques for analyzing NYS State Assessment Data and other third party and locally developed student assessment data.
  • Experience organizing, disaggregating and generating reports on student assessment data.
  • Experience working in a school setting is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and present data to administration and teaching staff.
  • Knowledge of student information systems (eSchoolData preferred).
  • Knowledge of SIRS requirements.
  • Understanding of NYSTP requirements.
  • Experience providing training to staff.
    • Experience with the following:Office Suite, MS Access, GSuite for Education
    • Analytics Tools
    • Custom Report Writing

Duties:
  • Prepares and organizes student assessment data and generates custom reports for administrators and building data teams.
  • Monitor and respond to the support help desk for staff and families with regards to data and portal questions.
  • Answers questions related to the district's student management systems, by phone, email and in person.
  • Collects and maintains emergency contact information for students/guardians.
  • Collects data from various school and community sources and enters it into the school district student databases including but not limited to the student information system and data dashboard.
  • Collects and maintains data based on student census, enrollment, and attendance to produce statistical reports.
  • Prepares and organizes data on student test results for analysis, district studies and/or state reports.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports in response to requests for statistical information.
  • Inputs, downloads, organizes, and analyzes student data used for instructional purposes using shared accountability and local school databases.
  • Develops and shares reports on student data.
  • Suggests relationships between data trends, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Responds to data requests from administrators and teachers.
  • Designs and conducts presentations of data and associated data analysis to school, school system and community groups.
  • Maintains and updates class lists and rosters and assists with sectioning of students.
  • Participates in training to remain current on data sources, data analysis techniques and strategies for developing and conducting presentations.
  • Serves on/interacts with school leadership teams to promote the continuous improvement of instruction.
  • Collaboratively works to manage all aspects of implementation, utilization, and support of school/student information data systems.
  • As needed, monitors the administration of tests and investigates discrepancies in test administration.
  • Provides technical assistance and consultation on considerations in testing set up to the district.
  • Manages data collection from various school and community sources.
  • Systematizes, organizes and integrates data, including necessary data preparation for analysis, district studies, state reports, etc.
  • Manages, troubleshoots, and ensures accurate production processes for report cards, progress reports and other system-generated communications to parents and community.
  • Monitors and ensures accuracy of data, statistics and reports, in compliance with all applicable data and records maintenance standards and requirements.
  • Performs a variety of related requests as assigned by the Director of Technology, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction and Superintendent..

Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience:
Either: a) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of work experience in which the primary function of the position was using automated spreadsheet and database programs; or (b) a Bachelor's Degree* and one (1) year of work experience as described in (a); or (c) a Bachelor's Degree* or Master's Degree* in Computer Science, Information Technology, Analytics, Data Science or a closely related field.
*To be considered for the position, a candidate must either:
  • hold the permanent title of Data Analyst in Westchester County OR
  • be reachable on the corresponding Westchester Civil Service list

Salary Range
