Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing will own C5MI's full marketing function: strategy, brand, content, and execution. This is a senior leadership role responsible for building on C5MI's positioning foundation, leading day-to-day marketing activities, managing third-party agencies and vendors, and hiring and developing internal marketing talent as the company scales. This individual brings hands-on government contracting (GovCon) marketing experience and understands how federal buyers discover, evaluate, and engage with contractors. They fully understand the importance of a partner ecosystem, and recognize that C5MI's audience extends beyond customers to include investors, partners, and potential employees.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes an integrated marketing plan spanning digital, content, events, and capabilities-based outreach aligned to C5MI's capture and BD pipeline.
  • Creates compelling collateral - capability statements, white papers, case studies, web content, and proposal marketing narratives - that differentiates C5MI in the GovCon market.
  • Manages and holds accountable third-party marketing agencies, design firms, PR vendors, and conference partners.
  • Partners with Business Development and Capture teams to support opportunity pursuit, RFI responses, and pre-solicitation positioning activities.
  • Builds and leads C5MI's marketing team as the company grows, including hiring, mentoring, and setting performance expectations.
  • Tracks and reports on marketing KPIs including pipeline influence, brand reach, content performance, and ROI on marketing spend.
  • Maintains awareness of GovCon market trends, competitor positioning, and the federal IT/ERP landscape to keep messaging current and relevant.
  • Owns C5MI's awards and recognition strategy - identifies, recommends, and leads submissions for high-value GovCon awards (e.g., Washington Technology Fast 50, GovCon Awards, AFCEA, ACT-IAC recognition programs) and SAP partner distinctions that build credibility with federal buyers and agency decision-makers.
  • Drives strategic positioning within the SAP ecosystem: amplifies C5MI's standing as a trusted federal SAP partner through SAP NS2 engagement, partner community visibility, and thought leadership that reaches SAP account teams and agency stakeholders.
  • Owns C5MI's events strategy end-to-end: determines which conferences, trade shows, and agency industry days to attend or sponsor (e.g., SAP Sapphire, AFCEA TechNet, agency-specific industry days), manages logistics and staffing, and ensures every C5MI appearance drives brand awareness and pipeline.
  • Adheres to all certified processes as part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and information security, which includes actively participating in quality assurance activities and ensuring the protection of sensitive information in accordance with our security policies.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by direct supervisor.

Essential People Leader Functions:

People Management & Performance Accountability: Sets performance expectations; provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and recognition; conducts goalsetting, evaluations, and development planning; and addresses performance, conduct, and attendance issues in a timely, compliant manner.

  • Employee Development & Capability Building: Develops employees through coaching, mentoring, training, and stretch assignments; identifies skill gaps and development needs; and supports succession planning and talent pipeline readiness within scope.
  • Engagement, Culture & Team Effectiveness: Fosters an inclusive, respectful, highperforming environment; promotes accountability and collaboration; and reinforces company values, behavioral expectations, and professional standards.
  • Workforce Planning & Resource Oversight: Plans, assigns, and prioritizes work to meet delivery, quality, and timeline goals; manages workloads and staffing within approved parameters; and escalates resource risks or constraints as needed.
  • Policy, Compliance & Risk Management: Applies company policies and employment practices consistently; partners with HR on employee relations matters; and identifies and mitigates people, delivery, and compliance risks.

Communication & Stakeholder Alignment: Communicates expectations, decisions, and changes clearly; aligns team or organizational objectives with business priorities; and collaborates effectively across matrixed, crossfunctional, or client environments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field with 10+ years of marketing experience, with at least 3 years focused on the federal government contracting market; or no degree with 15+ years of marketing experience with at least 5 years focused on the federal government contracting market.
  • Demonstrated success developing positioning and marketing programs for IT services, ERP, or data analytics in a GovCon context.
  • Experience managing external agencies, creative vendors, and marketing budgets.
  • Hands-on content creator: comfortable writing and editing both technical and non-technical marketing materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear buyer value.
