Job Summary:
Softchoice is a software-focused IT solutions and services provider that equips organizations to be agile and innovative. The Solutions Development Architect is a technical leader responsible for strategic planning, architectural design, and overall technical leadership of service development and delivery within Managed Services, focusing on innovative cloud solutions.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Define the architecture and design principles for Managed Cloud Services.
โ€ข Lead the design and development of complex, high-impact cloud solutions.
โ€ข Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions.
โ€ข Collaborate with external customers and partners to discover opportunities for improvements to our Managed Service offerings and capabilities.
โ€ข Provide leadership and coaching to the Solutions Development team, empowering them to embrace architectural best practices while enhancing their soft and technical skills.
โ€ข Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to keep the organization at the forefront of cloud service innovation.
โ€ข Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards in all architectural decisions.
โ€ข Participate in technical reviews, training and architecture assessments as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข 10+ years of combined IT Infrastructure, Azure, or AWS experience (extra points for both), working with enterprise-level clients either in solution architecture, or delivery lead roles.
โ€ข 5+ years of experience successfully delivering complex projects, including project architecture, design, implementation, and support for highly distributed applications.
โ€ข Great communication skills. (Yes, everyone writes that - but we really mean it.)
โ€ข Experience with many aspects of cloud computing (e.g., infrastructure, storage, platforms, data, etc.), as well as with the cloud market and competitive landscape.
โ€ข Experience facilitating discussions with senior/C-level leadership regarding technical and architectural trade-offs, best practices, and risk mitigation.
โ€ข Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.
โ€ข Experience in developing production-level systems using Python.
โ€ข Infrastructure automation experience (Terraform, PowerShell, Ansible, GitHub).
โ€ข Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect).
โ€ข Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Ability to understand and address customer needs.
โ€ข Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
โ€ข Self-interest in maintaining updated knowledge with technology (industry) best practices.
โ€ข Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
โ€ข Positive attitude with creative thinking.
Preferred:
โ€ข Managed Service operations/ITIL experience
