Job description

Overview
The Aerospace Engineer II position is a full-time exempt position early career or having completed a relevant M.S. or PhD program. The successful candidate will support engineering activities including developing engineering models and integrating externally developed flight vehicle and component subsystem models into computational simulation tools to support aerospace system design and analysis, perform engineering trade studies, and performance assessments of aerospace systems. The individual will work with an experienced engineer to train and mentor them in technical tasks and report to a Team Lead in our Air-Force Programs business unit.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Develop simulation models and software for aerospace or weapon system applications.
  • Develop autopilot concepts, provide robustness analysis, and integrate them with trajectory level simulation tools.
  • Perform analysis of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) concepts for aerospace or weapon system applications.
  • Develop advanced technology concepts for missile and aerospace system applications.
  • Document and present results to technical leads, management and/or customers.
  • Responsible for executing technical assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Support the development and on-time delivery of technical products to our customers.
  • Ensure corporate policies and procedures are adhered to in the performance of duties.
  • Support other duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies
  • BS degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field is required, MS degree or PhD is desired.
  • Classroom experience with the theory and design of feedback control systems.
  • Coursework related to 6-DOF simulations of atmospheric flight vehicles (flight mechanics or flight dynamics).
  • Coursework developing Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) algorithms.
  • Experience using Matlab, C++, or Python is desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stretch and lift up to 10 pounds occasionally
