Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - Adult

Location: Winston-Salem, NC
Facility Type: Level 1 Trauma | Academic Medical Center
Shift: Nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Type: Travel/Contract


Facility Overview
  • 885-bed Level 1 Trauma Center

  • Teaching/Academic Medical Center

  • Certified Chest Pain Center & Stroke Center

  • High-acuity, fast-paced environment


Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Adult Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join a dynamic and collaborative team. Therapists will be assigned to ICU or Med/Surg units based on departmental needs and experience.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory care across ICU and Med/Surg units

  • Manage patients with conditions such as COPD, asthma, pneumonia, post-surgical complications, and ED cases

  • Deliver critical care respiratory therapies and interventions

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams

  • Operate and maintain advanced respiratory equipment


Required Qualifications
  • Active North Carolina RT License

  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)

  • BLS & ACLS certifications

  • Minimum 2 years of critical care experience


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Level 1 Trauma or high-acuity settings

  • Familiarity with advanced respiratory equipment

  • Pediatric experience (for broader unit flexibility)


Equipment & Technology
  • EMR: EPIC

  • Equipment: Servo U, Servo Air, The Vest, Volara, Aerogen, Heated High Flow, Cough Assist

  • Pediatric (preferred): HFJV, HFOV


Department & Support
  • Strong team-oriented environment

  • Dedicated Lead Therapists for both Adult and Pediatric units

  • Excellent collaboration and experienced leadership


Scheduling & Work Details
  • Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (Nights)

  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend

  • On-Call: Not required

  • Holiday Requirement: 75% of holidays

  • Schedule Cycle: Every 6 weeks


Orientation
  • New Employee Orientation (NEO)

  • 1-2 days of departmental orientation

  • Floating: Based on experience and unit needs

  • Scrubs: Pewter (charcoal grey)

  • Parking: Free
