Job description

Performs engineering work in the coordination of all aspects of engineering projects. Coordinates the subdivision development application process or County public works construction projects (roadway design, intersection improvements, traffic signalization, water or wastewater systems); identifies utility agencies and distributes to and receives plans from all affected utility owners, conducting meetings at various project stages to minimize utility impacts on roadway design and to avoid or resolve conflicts. Coordinates with utility companies to minimize impact on design and schedule relocations in advance of roadway construction. Assists with the development and preparation of contract documents for advertising and bidding of roadway projects. Coordinates roadway projects with other County divisions, State, and local agencies. Performs field investigations for measurements, conflicts, safety, and maintenance compliance. Responsible for public information notification, construction scheduling, and final inspections of public works projects. Reviews cost estimates, permit submittals, and plans for compliance with accepted roadway design and construction standards for thoroughfare and local road design projects. Receives assignments in specific or general terms from an engineering superior and is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative in developing work methods. Work involves the application of engineering principles and techniques to engineering projects of a public works nature or to the review and approval of subdivision development applications.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering; minimum of two (2) years of experience in engineering work,
OR
• A Related Master's Degree; minimum of one (1) year of experience in engineering work,
OR
• An unrelated Bachelor's Degree or related Associate's Degree; minimum of four (4) years of experience in engineering work,
OR
• Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of six (6) years of experience in engineering work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
• Experience with AutoCAD,
• Experience with Micro Station software, and
• Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
