Job description

About Advanced Medical Solutions

Founded in 1991, Advanced Medical Solutions was built on a simple but powerful belief: patients deserve more than just medical equipment—they deserve compassionate care, dependable service, and a team that is committed to improving their quality of life.

As a leading provider of durable medical equipment (DME), we partner with physicians, hospitals, home health agencies, and patients to deliver essential medical equipment and supplies that support independence and recovery at home. Every member of our team plays an important role in ensuring patients receive the care they need when they need it.

Our billing department is a vital part of that mission. Accurate and timely billing helps ensure patients experience fewer delays in receiving equipment while maintaining compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and industry regulations.

If you're detail-oriented, enjoy problem-solving, and have experience navigating the complexities of DME reimbursement, we'd love to have you join our team.

Position Summary

The DME Biller is responsible for the accurate and timely submission, monitoring, and follow-up of insurance claims for durable medical equipment and related services. This role works closely with customer service, intake, referrals, and insurance providers to ensure claims are processed efficiently and reimbursement is maximized.

Success in this position requires a strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing guidelines, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to proactively resolve claim issues while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Submit clean, accurate claims for DME products and services.
  • Monitor claim status and aggressively follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims.
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies to ensure timely reimbursement.
  • Verify insurance benefits, eligibility, and payer requirements.
  • Maintain and update prior authorizations and required documentation.
  • Review accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collections activities.
  • Process Certificates of Medical Necessity (CMNs) and other required documentation.
  • Communicate billing updates and payer requirements to internal departments.
  • Review patient balances and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
  • Cross-train to support other billing and customer service functions as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer guidelines, HIPAA, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One or more years of medical billing experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and billing software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in Durable Medical Equipment (DME) billing strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance reimbursement.
  • Experience with prior authorizations, claim appeals, and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Familiarity with CMNs, medical documentation requirements, and payer guidelines.
  • Experience with HDMS, Brightree, or other DME billing software is a plus.
  • Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or other billing certification preferred but not required.
Skills for Success

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving problems, investigating claim issues, and ensuring every account is handled accurately from submission through payment. Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills are essential. Successful billers are self-motivated, thrive in a collaborative environment, and understand that their work directly supports both the financial health of the organization and the care our patients receive.

Why Join Advanced Medical Solutions?

At Advanced Medical Solutions, you're more than a biller—you're an essential part of the patient care journey. Every accurate claim, resolved denial, and timely reimbursement helps ensure patients receive the equipment they depend on to live safely and independently at home.

We value teamwork, integrity, accountability, and continuous learning. If you're looking for an opportunity where your expertise makes a meaningful impact, we'd love to hear from you.
