Job description

We are searching for a SQL/PostgreSQL Database Administrator. This is a full-time permanent hire position in Raleigh, North Carolina with our client. As a SQL/ PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance and optimization of cloud-based database systems, ensure high availability, security, performance, and scalability of databases hosted on cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities as a SQL/PostgreSQL Database Administrator:

  • Manage, observe, and optimize cloud-based database solutions
  • Perform database installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades
  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations
  • Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Ensure high availability through replication, clustering, and failover solutions
  • Support database security (encryption, access controls, auditing, compliance)
  • Automate database provisioning and maintenance using Infrastructure as Code
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues in production and non-production environments
  • Collaborate with DevOps, application developers, and security teams
  • Implement cost optimization strategies for cloud database resources
  • Maintain documentation for database architecture and operational procedures

Required skills and qualification as a SQL/PostgreSQL Database Administrator:

  • 10+ years of experience in database administration, monitoring, or optimization
  • Expert knowledge of database engine like MS SQL or PostgreSQL
  • DB Management in Cloud AWS or Azure Setup, Maintenance, Optimization, Replication Performance Analysis, Debugging and DR Recovery
  • Windows/Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge of IAC / Terraform, K8s, MongoDB a plus
