Location: 6410 Houston TX
Working hours: 40-60
DEUTZ is one of the world's leading manufacturers of innovative drive systems. Its core competences are the development, production, distribution and servicing of diesel, gas and electric drivetrains for professional applications that is used in construction equipment, agricultural machinery, material handling equipment, stationary equipment, commercial vehicles, rail vehicles and other applications.
Job Summary
The Service Manager will assist and repair the shop and the field. This role will also perform testing and modifications of new and used engines. The Service Manager will manage Field Technician's job performance using KPIs, service software, customer feedback, and training. The Service Manager will be expected to deliver high-quality customer service and represent the DEUTZ brand professionally. The ideal candidate must have a consistent willingness to increase their personal knowledge about our business, our products, our markets, and the customers we serve. Additionally, the ideal candidate must be a self-motivated individual with a results-driven attitude and a strong willingness to provide leadership by fostering a safe working environment while ensuring operational efficiencies are all met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage shop and field technicians; schedule, quote, and invoice all service jobs in a timely manner
• Oversee all Workshop and Field activities, including all required documentation per job
• Procurement of parts and materials needed for Workshop and Field activities.
• Work directly with sales and project management team members on value-add products and modifications to new engine packages.
• Perform inspection and failure analysis of damaged engines and communicate required repairs with customers.
• Repair engines damaged by shipping and handling.
• Perform dynamometer testing of engines, as required.
• Perform engine modifications by removing and adding external engine components, as required.
• Supervise assembly and testing of value-added engine packages.
• Work directly with Material Coordinator and Material Planner on requirements for assembly projects.
• Assist with the development and continuous improvement of line layout, equipment needs, and assembly processes for value add and shop repairs.
• Maintain specialty tooling workshop and field requirements per DEUTZ AG expectations.
• Position will require the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
• Report field activities and gather/refine ideas on how to improve DEUTZ products and policies.
• Assist in engine application/installation inspection.
• Train and assist in technical training of personnel at Distributors, Dealers, OEMs, Rental companies, and End Users.
• Handle all administrative issues business-likely, including call reports, itineraries, expense reports, budgets, forecasts, and other requests for action or information.
• Other duties may be assigned as required.
Other Qualifications:
• Proficient with 12- and 24-volt electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of Diesel engine fuel system
• Must be well-versed in troubleshooting engine problems.
• Ability to understand and follow detailed assembly procedures.
• Understanding torque values and special procedures during engine assembly.
• Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
• Ability to work with hand and power tools.
• Ability to manage more than one territory and handle multiple tasks efficiently
Supervisory Responsibility:
• Leads a team
Travel Requirements:
• Anticipated domestic and international travel is approximately 10-25% depending on business needs.
Minimum Requirements:
• High School Diploma
• 5 Years management experience
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in diesel industry
• Strong ability to carry out tasks and job descriptions with a maximum degree of quality and no supervision.
Preferred Requirements:
• Successful completion of all DEUTZ Training Classes
• Computer knowledge in (MS Office, Word, Excel) SAP, and Field Aware is a plus
Physical Requirements:
• Manufacturing assembly and warehouse environments. Subject to noise, dust, diesel fuel, oil, and extreme hot/cold temperatures. No A/C.
• If an employee is in the office area, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
