Summary

The MIL Corporation is seeking a Systems Administrator with TS/SCI, FS (Systems Administration, Associate) to support a federal government client in McLean, VA. The Systems Administrator shall support the day-to-day operations of computer systems. This support includes installation, configuration, maintenance, failure analysis and recovery, performance monitoring, data storage management and security management of laboratory computer systems.

This position currently requires a fully on-site schedule. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

This position is currently unfunded and is being posted in anticipation of a future contract award and funding approval. We are proactively identifying and engaging with qualified candidates. While candidates may be contacted for pre-screening, any hiring decisions will be contingent upon funding availability and final program requirements or client approval.

Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities of the on-site system administrator include:

  • Responding to inquiries concerning all aspects of computer and network operations
  • Creating and managing accounts
  • Installing, configuring, updating and removing system and application software
  • Installing, configuring and removing system hardware (servers, workstation, monitors, printers, plotters, scanners, transceivers, network interface cards, network physical links, etc.)
  • Configuring NFS, NIS, SAMBA, etc. remote hosting/sharing protocols
  • Backing up and restoring files
  • Monitoring and allocating system resources (central processing unit (CPU), memory and storage space)
  • Auditing system log files to include compliance audits
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software problems
  • Documenting hardware and software configurations, maintenance history, backup history
  • Implementing up-to-date system policies and procedures
  • Updating/patching system operating systems
  • Utilizing existing DEVOPS capabilities such as the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) to shorten systems development life cycle
  • Implementing and managing new and existing Active Directory services
  • Supporting systems scanning and working with the ISSE to reporting findings

Required Qualifications

  • Seven (7) years' experience as a system administrator
  • Five (5) years or more of total intelligence community relevant work experience as a system administrator
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools such as Puppet, ansible, etc.
  • Proficiency with at least one, preferably two, administrative languages (shell, PERL, Tk, Powershell, Python, etc.)
  • Functional knowledge of UNIX, LINUX and Windows operating systems in the conduct of their duties
  • Functional knowledge of distributed and clustered computing environments, cloud computing and virtualization environments

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics or four (4) years equivalent experience. Equivalent military training and experience in an Information technology field is acceptable.

Clearance

All applicants for this position must possess an active Top Secret/SCI with FS Poly clearance; please note that the clearance process takes into account financial background aspects.

For this position, the projected compensation range is $125,000 - $200,000 per year. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL's complete compensation package.
