JOB TITLE: Adaptive Physical Education Teacher
SCHOOL: District Wide
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Student Services
CERTIFICATION Current and Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
REQUIREMENTS:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 Day - Full Time
START DATE: August 17, 2026
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS
  1. Current and Valid Illinois Physical Education Endorsement and Adaptive PE Approval.
  2. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  3. Able to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Plans and implements instructional programs in accordance with the District's philosophy and curricular objectives.
  2. Delivers instruction to engage all students and adjusts lessons as indicated by student progress for the purpose of improving their success in academic and interpersonal skills.
  3. Designs classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans that align with State and District standards.
  4. Creates and administers assessments aligned with instructional goals. Uses the data from assessments to evaluate student competency, developing individual learning plans and for planning instructional groups.
  5. Maintain accurate and timely records for the purpose of monitoring student progress.
  6. Manages student behavior, classroom procedures, and physical space to provide a safe and optimal learning environment for students and staff.
  7. Assesses student progress towards targets and standards for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration throughout the learning process.
  8. Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration while establishing clear objectives for all lessons, curricular units, projects, and communicates these objectives to all students. Collaborates and facilitates ongoing staff development.
  9. Communicates and collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes.
  10. Understanding of various formal and informal assessment strategies and uses them to support the continuous development of students.
  11. Demonstrates exemplary classroom practice and possesses a deep understanding of technology integration and quality learning principles.
  12. Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the building Principal.
