Job Summary:
Acuity Insurance is seeking a Systems Engineer on the infrastructure team. The engineer will be responsible for the design, build, and maintenance of server hardware, operating systems, storage, and data protection systems, as well as managing virtualization environments and disaster recovery operations.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Provide support and maintenance for distributed or open systems servers.
โ€ข Provide support and maintenance for all virtualization of servers.
โ€ข Provide support and maintenance for AIX, Linux, Microsoft Windows operating systems.
โ€ข Provide support and maintenance for data replication systems.
โ€ข Provide support and maintenance for 3rd party applications as necessary.
โ€ข Knowledge of progressive security as it pertains to the networking, operating systems, software, and hardware of assigned servers.
โ€ข Experience with tapeless backup / recovery systems and documenting these processes.
โ€ข Detailed understanding and experience with network protocols.
โ€ข Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
โ€ข Train local and remote users on operating system software packages and hardware operation.
โ€ข Test new software products and releases as well as hardware devices.
โ€ข Assist in establishing standards and trouble reporting procedures.
โ€ข Assist in system performance monitoring, reporting and tuning.
โ€ข Assist in the integration of multiple hardware platforms.
โ€ข Participate in the Disaster Recovery plan and rehearsals.
โ€ข Design new or revised architectures to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements and provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.
โ€ข Remain abreast of company and industry directions.
โ€ข Regular and predictable attendance.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s or Associate Degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent and continued field specific education
โ€ข 3-5 years practical experience in computer operations, applications and/or technical support or information security
โ€ข Deep Operating Systems expertise
โ€ข Container experience and orchestration
โ€ข CICD expertise related to Packaging and distribution
โ€ข Configuration management, playbook scripting and pipelines
