Job description

Activities Assistant

The Activities Assistant will work with supervisor to complete assessments. They will also:

  • Assist in implementing 1:1 and group activities with assigned residents.
  • Adapts or modifies activities to meet resident’s needs.
  • Provides residents with resources, supplies, and equipment.
  • Provides emotional support to residents and families.
  • Provides a positive, supportive atmosphere during recreation sessions.
  •  Ensures resident safety during recreation sessions; follows health and safety policies, anticipates hazards, and takes appropriate measures.
  • Participates in team meetings
  • Communicates behavioral observations of residents to other staff and team members.

·         Encourages resident involvement in recreation opportunities and provides necessary supports to facilitate involvement

Specific Requirements

1. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

2. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever level of ability at which they are currently functioning.
