Your Role as the Activity Assistant / Activity Coordinator
Skilled Nursing
Americare Senior Living is seeking an energetic and compassionate Activity Assistant / Activity Coordinator to support resident engagement within our skilled nursing community. In this role, you'll assist with planning, organizing, and leading recreational and therapeutic activity programs that promote socialization, independence, and overall quality of life.
Activities are delivered in accordance with individualized resident capabilities, needs, and interests while meeting applicable state and federal guidelines.
Summary
The Activity Assistant / Coordinator supports the Life Enrichment or Activities program by assisting with group and individual activities designed to enhance residents' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being. This role works collaboratively with the care team to ensure activities are meaningful, inclusive, and person-centered.
This role may also be known as:
Activity Assistant, Activities Coordinator, Life Enrichment Assistant, or Recreation Aide.
What You'll Do
  • Assist in planning, organizing, facilitating, and directing recreational activity programs
  • Support resident engagement through group and one-on-one activities
  • Adapt activities to meet individual resident abilities, interests, and care plans
  • Encourage resident participation and social interaction
  • Assist with special events, celebrations, and community outings
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members
  • Maintain documentation related to resident participation as required

  • Follow all facility, state, and federal guidelines related to resident engagement

What You Bring
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Additional education related to activities, recreation, or life enrichment preferred but not required
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company requirements for transporting residents
  • Compassionate, creative, and resident-focused approach

Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. and assist with resident transfers as needed
  • Push, pull, and maneuver up to 100 lbs., including resident mobility assistance
  • Maneuver resident wheelchairs weighing up to 350 lbs.

Safety Requirements
  • Follow proper resident handling and transfer procedures
  • Utilize required PPE and safety equipment
  • Adhere to safe driving practices when transporting residents
  • Report work-related injuries within 12 hours and complete required documentation

Work Environment
This role is performed in a skilled nursing environment, including resident rooms, common areas, activity spaces, and community outing locations.
