Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Activities Director to join our team at Absolut Center of Endicott. As an essential member of our staff, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a comprehensive activities program designed to meet the physical, mental, emotional, and social needs of our residents. If you are passionate about delivering exceptional care and creating engaging experiences for seniors, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding role.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive therapeutic recreation and activities program that reflects residents' interests, preferences, cultural backgrounds, and abilities
• Provide a balanced schedule of individual, small group, large group, evening, weekend, and holiday programming, including specialized programming for residents with dementia, behavioral health diagnoses, and physical disabilities
• Coordinate resident council activities, collaborate with family members, and engage with community volunteers and resources
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized activity care plans and meaningful engagement opportunities
• Ensure compliance with CMS and New York State Department of Health regulations, as well as maintain accurate records and documentation
• Provide staff leadership, training, and supervision, as well as conduct annual performance evaluations
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe activity environment, including ordering supplies and ensuring equipment is properly maintained
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives and support facility-wide initiatives to improve resident satisfaction and quality of life

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Human Services, Recreation Management, Social Work, or a related field
• Associate degree with appropriate experience may be considered
• Minimum two years of experience in long-term care, rehabilitation, or healthcare, with previous supervisory experience preferred
• Experience working with residents living with dementia is also preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Activities Professional
• Knowledge of CMS and New York State Department of Health regulations
• Understanding of resident-centered care principles and dementia care
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to supervise and motivate staff
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional relationships

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk throughout the facility
• Ability to push wheelchairs and transport residents safely
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
