Job description

JOB OVERVIEW

Under general supervision, the Residential Aide (Residence Worker) ensures an efficient and positive work environment at the shelter. Responsibilities include performing various office tasks to oversee and support client needs onsite. This role involves collaborating with social services staff and security personnel to maintain a safe shelter environment for families, engaging directly with clients, and ensuring proper documentation procedures are followed. Overtime shifts may be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

โ— Ensure proper identification and logging of all visitors in the logbook and the online Midway Living database system.

โ— Offer professional greetings to all residents, visitors, and colleagues.

โ— Complete and submit arrival packets (via paper and via the database system) for new residents, exit logs, daily occupancy forms, etc., adhering to Midway Living, the Department of Homeless Services (DHS), and Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) guidelines.

โ— Record and file all incidents appropriately in the incident binder. Generate and submit detailed incident reports via email, including information about the incident and the names of first responders (police, ambulance, fire department, ACS, political parties, news outlets).

โ— Supervise incident management involving clients and other staff as required.

โ— Maintain various logs including school attendance, Administration for Children's Services (ACS), emergency contacts, and shift summaries, etc.

โ— Responsible for conducting partial intake assessments, including but not limited to, clients.

โ— Conduct crib audits to assess compliance with "Safe Sleeping" standards and report findings.

โ— Enforce the curfew regulations and conduct room checks and hourly rounds as required.

โ— Ensure timely and accurate completion of Nightly Signature Rosters, record on Midway Living website, and file all relevant paperwork relating to shift.

โ— Distribute DHS notices such as 4002 notices, appointment slips, and mail to residents.

โ— Conduct inspections of units via tablet, and wellness checks to maintain a clean and healthy environment for clients.

โ— Ensure thorough review and delivery of all relevant information and documentation to the incoming shift.

โ— Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of office and equipment.

โ— Record and distribute mail to clients.

โ— Coordinate the food distribution process, including receiving deliveries, performing light food preparation (excluding cooking), serving food, and managing trash disposal (if applicable).

โ— Compile and submit via email detailed shift summary reports.

โ— Collaborate with security staff to ensure a secure environment for employees, clients, and visitors.

โ— Assist custodial and security staff with the maintenance and security of the facility.

โ— Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies.

โ— Support initiatives to transition families into permanent housing.

โ— Assist in facilitating move-outs.

โ— Prepare units for vacancies by emptying, cleaning, and tagging client materials as necessary.

โ— Ensure that the lobby and front of the building are consistently cleared.

โ— Prevent loitering in all areas within and surrounding the building.

โ— Assist with fire drills/emergency evacuations.

โ— Responsible for ensuring safety and providing general support to assigned programs across various departments or divisions.

โ— Provide occasional instruction or assistance to other employees.

โ— Regularly update progress on the Midway Living database system

โ— Fulfill other duties aligned with the scope and responsibilities of the position.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
