What are Aces in the workplace?

In the workplace, 'Aces' typically refers to individuals who excel in their roles, often considered top performers or experts in their field. The term can also relate to specialized positions in certain companies or industries, such as Amazon's ACES (Amazon Customer Excellence System), which focuses on process improvement and operational excellence. These roles involve analyzing workflows, implementing best practices, and driving efficiency. Aces are recognized for their ability to solve complex problems and lead initiatives that improve organizational performance.

What are common challenges faced by ACES (Amazon Customer Excellence System) team members, and how can new hires prepare for them?

ACES team members often tackle challenges related to process improvement in fast-paced environments, where balancing multiple projects and stakeholders is key. New hires may find it demanding to quickly understand complex operations while driving sustainable changes. To prepare, it's helpful to develop strong analytical and communication skills, as well as adaptability to shifting priorities. Collaborating closely with operations, tech, and management teams is crucial for success and continuous learning.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ACES (Amazon Customer Excellence System) specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an ACES specialist, you need strong analytical skills, process improvement expertise, and a background in operations or supply chain management, often supported by a bachelor's degree. Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies, data analysis tools like Excel and SQL, and process mapping software is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills help drive continuous improvement initiatives. These skills are crucial for optimizing operational efficiency and implementing effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

Join ACES as a Behavior Technician!

At ACES, we’re passionate about helping children with autism reach their full potential — and we care just as much about supporting our team. We prioritize work/life balance, employee wellness, and clear growth opportunities in a meaningful, data-driven field.

As a Behavior Technician, you’ll work one-on-one with children, helping them build communication, social, and problem-solving skills using evidence-based ABA techniques. If you’re empathetic, motivated, and excited to make a difference, this could be the perfect fit.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide 1:1 ABA therapy in our centers or in home-based settings
  • Reinforce positive behaviors using techniques from our industry-leading training program
  • Track client progress using a company-issued iPad and data systems
  • Collaborate with families and supervisors to support each child’s growth

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay and benefits
  • $1/hour increase after your first year (if in good standing)
  • Paid Registered Behavior Technician (RBT®) certification
  • Paid, best-in-class training program
  • Career advancement and mentorship opportunities
  • Unlimited employee referral bonuses (up to $500 per referral)
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits available to many part-time employees
  • Company-issued iPad

Schedule & Hours

This is a part-time role, starting at approximately 15 hours per week, with opportunities to build additional hours based on availability and business needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping children
  • Strong communication skills with both children and caregivers
  • Sound judgment in dynamic situations
  • A desire for a meaningful, hands-on career

Experience working with children is a plus, including backgrounds such as camp counselor, nanny, preschool teacher, paraprofessional, teacher’s aide, or childcare volunteer—but all applicants are welcome.

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Enrolled or completed one college course (Trade/Tech School is applicable)
  • A passion for supporting children and families impacted by autism
  • Comfort using tablet-based technology
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license*, and active car insurance
  • Military and college students may be exempt
  • Availability during times most needed by families
  • Commitment to completing our paid virtual RBT training program

Physical Requirements:

  • Direct work with clients may include, without limitation, the following physical demands: sitting, kneeling, squatting, running, twisting and turning, reaching above shoulders and/or frequent physical transitions. Responsibilities listed are illustrative and may change at ACES’ discretion.

Turn your passion for helping others into a rewarding, impactful career with ACES. We can’t wait to meet you!

*The pay scale provided is the hourly wage range ACES reasonably expects to pay for clinical work (i.e., direct treatment services) performed by team members in the position. ACES pays a different rate for non-clinical work (i.e., trainings, travel time, meetings, etc.) performed by team members, which is paid at 16.90/hour.

ACES is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, disability, age or covered veteran status.
