Job description

Part-Time Accounts Receivable Specialist
Location: Muskegon, MI
Pay: $20.00 - $23.50/hour
Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week (up to 30 hours during busier periods). Flexible scheduling available. Office closes at 12:00 PM on Fridays. Onsite during training with the potential for remote work once processes are learned.

Responsibilities
  • Manage collections by preparing and sending collection letters and emails
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up through written communication
  • Assist with preparing and coordinating surplus asset sales, including organizing items, photographing inventory, and helping determine pricing for online marketplaces
  • Support account reconciliations, including assisting with vendor account balancing as needed
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Collaborate with accounting and facilities staff on special projects and departmental initiatives
Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience with accounts receivable or collections (written correspondence onlyโ€”no collection calls)
  • A few years of accounting experience or a solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Comfortable working in a professional office environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written communication skills
