Job description

GARNEY

An Accounts Payable Specialist position is available at Garney. As an Accounts Payable Specialist for the payment team, you will play a vital role in processing invoices and transactions efficiently and accurately. A successful candidate will be detail-oriented and possess a solid understanding of accounts payable procedures within the construction industry.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Review, code, and process invoices, expense reports, and pay applications in the ERP system
  • Execute payments (ACH, wire, check) accurately and on time; create and transmit payment files to banks
  • Reconcile accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve payment issues, including voids and adjustments
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, maintaining professional and timely communication 
  • Set up and maintain vendor records in compliance with company policies and documentation requirements 
  • Manage high-volume workflows while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Track costs, support reporting requests, and assist with job cost monitoring
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure efficient and timely accounts payable operations
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • 1-4 years of accounts payable experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent - Required
  • Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
  • Experience with vendor management; interest in process improvement and technology
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume, accurate work
  • Effective problem-solving, research, and reconciliation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer/software systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate and build positive working relationships in a fast-paced environment
