We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our Finance and Accounting team. This role will be responsible for overseeing technical general ledger accounting functions, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, supporting accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing meaningful financial analysis to business stakeholders. The Assistant Controller will also lead and develop the Accounts Payable team while helping drive process improvements and operational excellence across the accounting function. 


The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in public accounting, exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex accounting matters into actionable business insights.

What you will do: 


Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting 

  • Manage and oversee general ledger accounting activities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end and year-end close processes. 
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies. 
  • Research, document, and implement accounting treatment for complex or non-routine transactions. 
  • Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules. 
  • Support external audits and coordinate requests from auditors and other regulatory parties. 
  • Maintain strong internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvements. 

Financial Analysis & Business Partnership 

  • Prepare and communicate financial analyses, trends, and key performance indicators to management and business stakeholders. 
  • Partner with operational leaders to provide accounting guidance and financial insights that support business decisions. 
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities. 
  • Develop reporting tools and dashboards to improve visibility into financial performance. 

Leadership & Team Management 

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the Accounts Payable team. 
  • Establish performance expectations, provide coaching, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, payments, and expense reports. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to resolve payment and vendor-related issues. 

Process Improvement & Compliance 

  • Evaluate existing accounting processes and implement efficiencies through automation and standardization. 
  • Support the maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and documentation. 
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. 

What we look for: 


Required 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in public accounting. 
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements. 
  • Experience managing general ledger accounting and month-end close processes. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems. 

Preferred 

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. 
  • Experience in NetSuite. 
  • Experience supervising or managing accounting staff. 
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives and accounting system implementations. 
  • Background in both public accounting and corporate accounting environments.

Where we work: 

  • This position requires you to be onsite either full-time or on a hybrid basis.  

The expected salary range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000 per year, which represents a good faith and reasonable estimate. Compensation decisions depend on numerous factors including bona fide qualifications and the facts and circumstances of each case at the time of hiring. Relevant qualifications include, but are not limited to employee education, training, skillset, credentials/certifications, relevant work experience, geographic work location (including if the employee will be hybrid or fully in-office), the scope and responsibilities of the role, internal level and peer equity, and market considerations.
