Job description

Aston Carter is partnering with a well-established client in the Chattanooga, TN area to hire a Logistics Coordinator responsible for managing and coordinating inbound raw material deliveries and outbound finished product shipments for both domestic and international customers. This role serves as a key connection between customers, sales, manufacturing, warehouse operations, transportation providers, rail carriers, brokers, and regulatory agencies to ensure the timely, accurate, and cost-effective movement of goods. Key responsibilities include shipment scheduling, freight coordination, rail logistics management, shipping documentation, inventory support, and customer communication. Our client is open to candidates with at least one year of experience in logistics, shipping, transportation, manufacturing, or a related field who are looking to grow their careers. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, customer-focused team player with strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional service while supporting efficient logistics operations.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating the shipments of outbound finished products and inbound raw materials for the facility.  The outbound shipments will go to international and domestic customers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Role requires intimate knowledge of SCP customer accounts including customer product specifications.
  • Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communications skills. Role requires successful communication and coordination with Sales; Manufacturing; External Freight Companies; Railroads, Regulatory Agencies, Customers, Accounting, Brokers, etc.
  • Candidate must be able to build and maintain both internal and external customer relationships.
  • Responsible for scheduling outbound loads and coordinating with warehouse team.
  • Assign loads and print labels for outgoing shipments.
  • Ensure container numbers and seals are handled properly on loads and documentation is updated in system.
  • Understand plant operations, including logistics, production and inventory.
  • Manage rail logistics for facility.
  • Handle incoming raw material loads and ensure labels are printed and given to unloading team.
  • Ability to use the main-frame computer systems is required.
  • Maintain proper supplies of labels and seals for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Ability to use word processing, excel spread sheets and other PC based programs required.
  • Ability to minimize cost while meeting customer needs
  • Problem solving skills required.

Job Requirements:

  • One to three years of experience, working with shipments, shipment documents or in a related area, preferred.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing and marketing processes
  • Understand the urgency of situations and be able to prioritize
  • Ability to troubleshoot and determine resources that may be needed to solve problems with the Logistics process.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, convey information professionally and concisely.
  • “Team Player” mindset, required
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • A degree in Business, Accounting, Logistics or a related field preferred

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
