Job Title: ControllerJob Description
This onsite Controller position oversees all accounting and finance responsibilities for a growing company with approximately $10 million in annual revenue. The role serves as the primary financial leader without direct reports, managing the full cycle of accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial management, and supporting the organization's continued growth. The Controller maintains strong financial controls, delivers timely reporting, and may support budgeting, forecasting, and select HR-related tasks as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all core accounting and finance functions for the organization without direct reports.
  • Manage full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Input and process at least 100 invoices per month with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Oversee purchase orders and ensure accuracy and completeness of supporting documentation.
  • Handle payroll processing, including data entry, review, and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accurate and timely financial records.
  • Balance spreadsheets and validate the accuracy of financial data across systems.
  • Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Prepare and provide accurate financial reports to leadership on a regular basis.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, as needed and as responsibilities expand.
  • Assist with HR-related tasks such as coordinating with third-party benefits and 401(k) providers to enroll new employees and respond to employee questions.
  • Help set up new hires in payroll systems and support onboarding from a payroll and benefits perspective.
Essential Skills
  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
  • Proven experience handling full accounting functions for a company, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting activities such as journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Experience or strong comfort performing payroll-related duties, including processing and compliance.
  • Experience using an ERP system, with willingness and ability to learn Sage ERP if not previously used.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
  • Ability to manage high-volume invoice processing (at least 100 invoices per month).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data and documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities in a growing environment.

Work Environment
This is a fully onsite role, Monday through Friday, within the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The company offers flexibility to choose any 8-hour shift within this window, as long as work is completed effectively. The organization is growing, currently employing around 23 full-time team members, with plans to expand both headcount and revenue over the next three years. The Controller works in a professional office environment using Sage ERP (or similar systems) and standard accounting tools to manage financial operations and support the company's continued growth.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $42.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
