Job Summary:

The team of Junior and/or Senior Accountants/Auditors must reside or be willing to relocate to the U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a work plan to ensure that future single audit submissions are completed on time: Develop comprehensive work plans for each area, detailing the approach to resolving audit backlogs and meeting submission deadlines.
  • Develop Project Communication Plan: Establish protocols for communication between the contractor, insular governments, and the independent auditors.
  • Provide support with government accounting tasks related to audit submissions.
  • Conduct Audit Project Management. Understand the audit work plans by Jurisdiction-Specific work plan. Keep track of the project timeline and follow up with audit teams and insular governments daily to obtain detailed audit status and identify and resolve current and potential issues.
  • Develop procedures to complete accounting reconciliations accurately and on time.
  • Develop procedures for how to use accounting system modules and how to generate system reports.

Qualifications for the Following Roles:

Senior Accountant/Auditor:

Four or more yearsโ€™ experience in professional accounting work, which includes the following:

  • A bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, or a bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance or Business.
  • Must be a CPA.
  • Experience in reviewing complex financial and accounting transactions and extensive historical records relating to calculating general ledger balances with emphasis on investment accounting, including preparing journal entries utilizing a financial accounting system.
  • Experience in managing or coordinating the activities of Accountants and/or Auditors, serving as group leader or coordinator, acting as liaison with client.
  • Experience in providing financial transaction research and analysis activities, which may include the review of individual project work papers and all documentation necessary to provide an adequate audit trail or transactions that support account balances.
  • Prepares milestone status reports and presentations for colleagues/team members and end-use representatives.
  • Experience using at least one of the following financial management information systems: Tyler Munis Enterprise ERP, Bisan Financial Information System, Fundwear, Freebalance, Onesolution, Microsoft. If there is no specific experience with these systems, demonstrated experience with other financial management information systems.

Junior Accountant/Auditor:

At least one to two yearsโ€™ experience in professional accounting work, which includes the following:

  • A bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, or a bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance or Business, with 24 semester hours in accounting, is required.
  • Experience in reviewing financial and accounting transactions and extensive historical records relating to calculating general ledger balances with emphasis on investment accounting.
  • Experience in providing financial transaction research and analysis activities, which may include the review of individual plan work papers and all documentation necessary to provide an adequate audit trail or transactions that support a plan's balance.
  • Experience in the use of Excel, Word, and/or other software packages.
  • Experience using at least one of the following financial management information systems: Tyler Munis Enterprise ERP, Bisan Financial Information System, Fundwear, Freebalance, Onesolution, Microsoft. If there is no experience with these systems, demonstrated experience with other financial management information systems.
