The Staff Accountant will be a key part of the finance team, supporting the Accounting Director with an array of financial functions. Responsibilities:Performs general accounting functions in support of the month-end and year-end closePrepares schedules for review by the Accounting DirectorPrepares journal entries for review by the Accounting DirectorPrepares multiple cost allocation schedules on a monthly basisResponsible for processing Accounts Payable/Accounts ReceivableInteracts with staff, vendors and bank personnel in a professional mannerTracks international wires as needed to ensure successful paymentEnsures adherence to established procedures and internal controlsEnsures compliance with sponsoring agency regulationsAssists Accounting Director in research as neededAssists in preparation of the annual financial audit and intermittant programatic auditsAssists in preparation of the 990 and related activitiesSupports the Accounting Director with various other activities and projects, as neededActs as a backup for various accounting functions as needed Qualifications – required: Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent work experienceCertified Public Accountant (CPA) preferredExperience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systemExperience working with Anybill or a similar accounts payable softwareIntermediate Excel skillsKnowledge of nonprofit accounting requirements, GAAP and Uniform GuidanceKnowledge of foreign exchange transactions Qualifications – preferred:Highly motivated, energetic, innovative, and able to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentOrganized, flexible, proactive, and detail-oriented with a strong work ethicCollaborative with strong interpersonal skills for building authentic, professional relationships with staff and affiliates.
