College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University). MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide more than 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to approximately 575 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Clinical Trials Business Manager, the incumbent prepares formal reports and is responsible for completion of financial data for the CTO finances.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Accounting
Audits and processes payments. Determines what action should be taken to resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities. Ensures accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses. Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs. Establish tables of accounts, and assign entries to proper accounts. Post and maintains records of receipts and disbursements and prepare journal entries.
Database, Files & Spreadsheet Maintenance
Ensure financial records and maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures. Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures. Develop and maintain financial databases. Examine a variety of financial statements for completeness, accuracy and compliance with uniform accounting classifications and policies/procedures and governing bodies.
Advisory Capacity
Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems. Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice. Report to management regarding the finances of establishment. Educate department administrators and principal investigators concerning compliance issues and assist them in managing the sponsored funds in accordance with state and federal regulations for grants accounting.
Statements
Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly/quarterly and annual accounts. Prepare financial management reports. Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met to include accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close. Analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues. Assist with the preparation of the annual financial report and various other special reports as needed. Prepare a variety of financial statements showing receipts, disbursements, and balances; carries out assigned steps in an accounting analysis.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university and relevant experience.
OR
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university and three years of relevant experience.

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to complete work in a timely manner and meet deadlines
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Pay Band: B7
Salary Range: $20.29/hourly - $24.03/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
