Job description

Position Summary


Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career accounting professional looking to build a long-term career in accounting and finance. The Staff Accountant will support the month-end close process, prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and assist with financial reporting while gaining exposure to all aspects of the accounting function.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Perform monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare and maintain account schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze financial data and investigate account variances.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
  • Support fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Prepare sales and use tax filings and other regulatory reports as assigned.
  • Assist with annual audits by gathering supporting documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative projects as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 0–2 years of accounting experience (internship experience welcomed).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or entry-level accounting experience.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, agriculture, distribution, or industrial environments is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, NetSuite, SAP, or similar ERP systems is preferred but not required.
