Are you an experienced accounting professional ready to take ownership of financial operations and make an impact across a growing organization? This is an exciting opportunity to lead accounting activities for multiple business entities while partnering closely with executive leadership and department leaders.

APEX Placement & Consulting has partnered with an established organization in Strasburg, VA looking to add an Accounting Manager to its team. This onsite position is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who brings strong financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and analytical experience.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead accounting activities and financial reporting across multiple business entities
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting processes
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage general ledger activity, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, amortizations, taxes, and account maintenance
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, and payment processing
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, fixed assets, leases, liabilities, receivables, and payables
  • Manage fixed assets, including depreciation, impairments, and related adjustments
  • Analyze financial performance and provide insight into trends, variances, costs, profitability, liquidity, and potential risks
  • Develop and monitor financial KPIs to support operational and strategic decision-making
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, and related financial analysis
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports for senior leadership and the board
  • Coordinate the year-end audit process and assist with annual financial statements and disclosures
  • Serve as a primary contact for auditors, tax advisors, financial institutions, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the timely and accurate preparation of sales tax, corporate tax, and other required filings
  • Monitor compliance with internal controls, company policies, statutory requirements, lender requirements, and financial reporting standards
  • Partner with department leaders to ensure financial information is captured and reported accurately
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, strengthen controls, and improve reporting efficiency
  • Complete additional financial analysis and reporting to support senior management as needed
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Ability to work onsite at client location in Strasburg, VA
  • At least five years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience with general accounting, cost accounting, financial reporting, P&L management, and balance sheet management
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal accounting controls
  • Experience coordinating with auditors and managing the annual audit process
  • Proven ability to build budgets from the ground up and manage performance against established budgets
  • Experience working within a general ledger system; Sage MAS 200 experience is a plus
  • Strong financial analysis, problem-solving, and business-partnership skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, prioritization, and project-management abilities
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to stakeholders at all levels
  • A continuous-improvement mindset with the ability to simplify and strengthen processes
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues, vendors, customers, bankers, and other external partners
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to out-of-state locations, approximately 15%
