We are seeking an Identity Platform Engineering Manager to help define and drive the future of digital trust across Ford's global ecosystem. This leader will shape the strategy, engineering, and operations of Ford's Identity and Access Management platform across workforce, dealer, supplier, customer, workload, and emerging AI agent identities.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Head of Identity and Access Management, this role begins as a highly strategic individual contributor with broad enterprise influence and an expectation to build and lead a global platform engineering team.
This is a unique opportunity to secure and enable every interaction across employees, dealers, suppliers, customers, applications, workloads, connected vehicles, and AI-powered systems.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
Shape Ford's Identity Strategy
  • Define and execute Ford's enterprise Identity and Access Management strategy and multi-year roadmap.
  • Establish identity as a foundational platform that enables business growth, customer experiences, and digital innovation.
  • Drive Zero Trust adoption across workforce, dealer, supplier, customer, workload, and AI agent ecosystems.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, privacy, compliance, and technology leaders to strengthen enterprise resilience through identity-centric controls.
  • Influence the future of identity security across Entra ID, Google Cloud Platform, and emerging cloud-native identity architectures.

Lead AI-Powered Identity Innovation
  • Define Ford's approach to securing AI agents, autonomous systems, and machine-to-machine identities.
  • Implement AI-assisted identity lifecycle management, access governance, certification campaigns, and risk-based decisioning.
  • Drive adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices including code generation, automated testing, vulnerability remediation, and intelligent observability.
  • Establish governance frameworks that enable responsible and secure use of AI across identity platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve self-service experiences through intelligent automation.

Build and Modernize Identity Platforms
  • Lead modernization of Ford's identity platforms using cloud-native architectures, APIs, automation, and platform engineering practices.
  • Manage engineering team responsible for 24/7 global operations for various Identity and Access Management Platforms and Products delivering always on customer experiences.
  • Deliver secure, scalable, and highly available identity services for employees, partners, suppliers, dealers, and customers.
  • Drive Site Reliability Engineering practices focused on resiliency, observability, availability, and operational excellence.
  • Improve engineering velocity through automation, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Partner across enterprise technology teams to integrate identity capabilities into Ford's digital platforms.

Build High-Performing Teams
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor world-class engineers, architects, and technical leaders.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate strategy, outcomes, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership.
  • Build strong relationships across business, security, compliance, and technology organizations.
  • Lead through complexity while maintaining focus on measurable business outcomes.

Qualifications
You'll have...
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field OR a combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of experience designing, building, or leading enterprise-scale Identity and Access Management platforms.
    • Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure AD, and Google Cloud IAM.
    • Deep expertise across multiple identity disciplines including:
      • Identity Governance & Administration (IGA)
      • Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM)
      • Privileged Access Management (PAM)
      • Authentication & Federation
      • Workload Identity & Agent Identity
      • Access Management
    • Experience leading large-scale enterprise transformation programs.
    • Strong understanding of Zero Trust architecture and modern identity security principles.
    • Expertise with modern identity standards including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, FIDO2, SAML, SPIFFE, Cedar, OPA, AuthZEN, or related technologies.
    • Experience leveraging AI and automation to improve engineering, operations, and security outcomes.
    • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Manage global teams that provide 24/7 incident response.
    • Travel: 10-15% to Ford offices in Dearborn, Michigan.

This position is a range of salary grade LL6 | $132,800 - $250,800
SOUTHEAST MI RESIDENTS: This role is posted as remote unless you reside within 50 miles of Dearborn, MI-in which case we request on-site presence up to 4 days a week.
