Job Summary
Peer Academic Coaches serve as student leaders within the Center for Academic Success and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on their peers' college experience. In this role, coaches meet with students one-on-one to discuss time management, goal setting, note taking, and test-taking strategies. They serve as a role model to their peers and assist students with acclimating to college life and building academic confidence.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- UWG Student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours as an undergraduate at UWG
- Open to second-semester freshman through seniors (first-semester freshman are not eligible)
Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions
- Work is primarily conducted in an office setting with periods of sitting and computer use.
- Occasional movement around campus for outreach or events may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a helping setting.
- Knowledge of UWG resources.
- Good overall academic ability.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain professionalism.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well with peers.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of coaching sessions using EAB Navigate.
