Job description

As a member of Garver's Buildings Team, the Structural Engineer in Training (EIT) will develop structural designs and documentation for various projects within the Buildings Business Line. Responsibilities include structural analysis, design, detailing, and construction administration for multiple structural systems, including:
  • Structural Steel
  • Reinforced Concrete
  • Cold-Formed Steel
  • Reinforced masonry
  • Structural Wood

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct structural analysis, design, and detailing.
  • Perform construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, conducting site observations, and preparing reports.
  • Utilize BIM design software to produce structural drawings.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Assist project managers and follow QA/QC plans.
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Continue education and learning based on project and team needs.
  • Collaborate with architects and contractors.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Registered Engineer In Training (EIT) or ability to become registered within 6 months of start date
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and a good team player.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Preferred Requirements and Skills:
  • Master's degree in civil engineering or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 1 to 2 years of professional structural engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with Bentley RAM Structural System and RAM Elements, Autodesk Revit and Construction Cloud, AIA MasterSpec.
  • Working knowledge of structural engineering principles, US building codes, and structural design standards.
