Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Supervision & Daily Operations

  • Serve as the on-site working lead for donor services staff, coordinating daily assignments and workflow.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage and appropriate task distribution throughout the shift.
  • Provide real-time guidance, coaching, and operational support to donor services staff.
  • Reinforce adherence to Suncoast Blood Centers SOPs, safety standards, and donor care expectations.
  • To ensure a smooth onboarding experience and long-term success. will foster a supportive learning environment, provide hands-on training and guidance to new hires during their onboarding period, Act as a role model, demonstrating company values, work standards, and professional conduct.
  • Report directly to Fixed Site Manager regarding any concerns, issues and adherence issues that are encountered.
  • Monitor daily collections and reinforce individual collection goals for staff and per center matrix.
  • Maintain FDA and AABB critical equipment logs to ensure completed documentation has occurred.
  • Oversee the Bio-Hazard documentation for the territory.
  • Supports staff schedule in their territory, call-offs, and work with The Donor Services Fixed Site Area Supervisor for the surrounding Territory to ensure all areas are filled as needed.
  • Provide daily reports to the Fixed Site Manager from their Territory.
  • Assist Management/ Training Department complete O-Reports as needed.
  • Offer constructive feedbackto help new employees develop skills and confidence, monitor progress of mentees and collaborate with management to address training needs. Willingness to create a supportive, inclusive environmentfor learning. and help new team members integrate seamlessly into our workplace culture.
  • Support onboarding and training of new staff by providing hands-on guidance, modeling best practices, and reinforcing SOPs, in coordination with management.

Donor Flow, Productivity & Collection Support

  • Monitor donor flow and operational conditions, adjusting staffing and tasks to maintain efficiency and donor satisfaction.
  • Direct staff during periods of downtime to complete outbound donor outreach activities, including appointment reminder calls, in accordance with department guidelines and approved scripts.
  • Monitor and support achievement of management-established goals for concurrent product collections utilizing apheresis devices, adjusting staff assignments and workflow as needed to support operational targets.
  • Reinforce productivity expectations during low-volume periods by redirecting staff to approved operational tasks.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all donor services activities are performed in compliance with FDA, AABB, and SunCoast Blood Centers policies and procedures.
  • Identify and escalate operational issues, donor concerns, equipment problems, or safety risks to management promptly.
  • Support accurate documentation and recordkeeping related to donor collections and center operations.

Team Support & Communication

  • Foster a professional, respectful, and donor-focused team environment.
  • Communicate operational updates, priorities, and expectations clearly to staff.
  • Serve as a point of contact between donor services staff and management during assigned shifts.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized donor center environment.
  • Participate in required meetings, training, and professional development activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support SunCoast Blood Centers' mission, vision, and values.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift or move materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for phlebotomy and computer-based documentation.

Environmental Requirements

  • Work performed in a donor center clinical environment.
  • Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens; appropriate PPE required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in donor services, phlebotomy, healthcare operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Six (6) months of supervisory or lead experience preferred, or equivalent advanced donor services experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of donor center operations and blood collection procedures.
  • Ability to provide direction, guidance, and support to staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Basic computer skills, including electronic documentation systems.

Licenses / Certifications

  • Valid Florida Driver's License and driving record that meets SunCoast Blood Centers' insurability requirements.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
