Job description

Position Summary: The Cost Controller will ensure accurate financial records, clean balance sheets, and reconciled P&Ls while driving operational analysis and project cost control. You'll help steer budgets, track productivity, internal staff point incentives and fill operational gaps as needed.


Key Responsibilities:

Accounting / Finance:

  • Maintain and reconcile A/R, A/P, G/L; ensure clean balance sheets and P&Ls.
  • Manage Accounts Payable, issue payment for vendors/subs.
  • Oversee QuickBooks Enterprise/QuickBooks Online (QBO) setup, updates, and troubleshooting.
  • Install, manage, and maintain QuickBooks Online cloud-based daily functions.
  • Train support staff in the use of QuickBooks Enterprise/QBO.
  • Liaise with CPAs, banks, auditors, and external partners.
  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial reports.
  • Manage and reconcile balance sheet accounts, fixed assets, commissions, and adjusting entries.
  • Approve subcontractor invoices and resolve disputes as needed.

Operations Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain job cost and performance reports.
  • Analyze employee point incentives and company performance metrics.
  • Benchmark overhead and advise on cost-saving opportunities.
  • Improve and refine reporting for divisions (e.g., Betterliving Sunrooms, TMP Helical piers).

Legal & Dispute Management:

  • Support operations managers with vendor/customer disputes.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel as directed.
  • Gather data for dispute resolution as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5-7+ years' experience with QuickBooks Enterprise/QuickBooks Online (QBO), from installation and setup to reporting.
  • Strong G/L, A/R, A/P, reconciliation, and troubleshooting skills.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree (Accounting or related field).
  • Construction industry and job-cost accounting knowledge.
  • IT skills (cloud email support, server environment familiarity).
  • HR and employment law knowledge.
