Seeking an accounting manager for Conquest Sports Group, $30M wholesale consumer sporting goods company to oversee all financial operations, including general accounting, accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), payroll, and general office administration. The role involves ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all financial processes and providing administrative support to the company's operational staff.


Job Summary

The Accounting Manager is a hands-on, detail-oriented role responsible for managing the full cycle of accounting operations. Reporting to senior management, this role is critical for maintaining the financial health of the company by providing accurate financial information and implementing robust controls. The ideal candidate has experience in wholesale or inventory-based accounting and can balance financial oversight with day-to-day office management.


Essential duties and responsibilities

General Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Supervise all accounting functions, including the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Coordinate with Chief Financial Officer and external accountants for bank and annual audits and tax filings.

Accounts Payable (A/P)

  • Oversee the entire A/P function, ensuring invoices are reviewed, approved, and paid in a timely manner.
  • Resolve billing discrepancies and monitor outstanding payables.
  • Perform the entry of A/P data to ensure proper coding and documentation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of Form 1099s for applicable vendors.

Accounts Receivable (A/R) and Collections

  • Manage the A/R process, including customer invoicing and timely collection of payments.
  • Monitor customer payments and work with sales or operations to resolve issues that may hinder collections.
  • Perform reconciliation of customer accounts and investigate any discrepancies.

Payroll

  • Oversee weekly or bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Work with external PEO to process payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

General Office Administration

  • Manage overall administrative activities for the office, including purchasing administrative goods and office supplies.
  • Maintain accurate personnel files and employee records.
  • Support operational teams with general clerical and project-based tasks.
  • Act as a liaison between the company, vendors, customers, and other third parties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Previous experience in the wholesale or consumer goods industry is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
