Job description

Job Title: ControllerJob Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Controller to lead financial operations within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in accounting and finance, capable of driving financial performance and supporting strategic business decisions.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze profit and loss statements, key performance metrics, and financial reports.
  • Monitor plant financial performance and investigate production, labor, and overhead variances.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs and inventory accounting processes.
  • Manage capital expenditures, capital project accounting, and fixed asset tracking.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning activities.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with plant leadership to drive operational efficiency and informed business decisions.
  • Support physical inventory activities and analyze inventory variances.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, SOX requirements, and company policies.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit activities.
  • Collaborate with corporate finance, shared services, and cross-functional teams on business initiatives and special projects.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in cost accounting, financial planning and analysis, ERP systems, and general ledger management.
  • Ability to oversee preparation of weekly and monthly profit and loss statements and other financial documents.
  • Experience in managing inventory accounting and developing standard costs.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with a fully integrated ERP system; Oracle experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership role.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations through financial analysis and reporting.
  • CPA and/or CMA certification preferred.
Work Environment
The position is based in an office setting with two direct reports. The company is experiencing growth, having recently introduced new production lines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morristown, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $67.31/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
