SHR Talent is partnering with a privately held, growing healthcare services organization to identify a Controller to lead and strengthen its accounting function.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who can bring structure, accuracy, and accountability to the organization while helping build the financial infrastructure needed to support continued growth.

The Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting function, lead an established team, and work closely with senior leadership to improve financial reporting, processes, controls, and overall visibility into the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization's accounting function, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and accounts payable.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop an established accounting team.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and underlying accounting records.
  • Evaluate existing accounting practices and address historical or ongoing accounting issues.
  • Improve the efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of the monthly close process.
  • Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Provide leadership with greater visibility into financial and operational performance.
  • Develop meaningful reporting around revenue, labor costs, profitability, and key business drivers.
  • Partner with operational leadership to support business decisions and continued growth.
  • Build scalable accounting processes and infrastructure.
  • Support external audit, tax, and other third-party accounting relationships.

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Progressive accounting experience with demonstrated success in a Controller or senior accounting leadership capacity.
  • Strong technical accounting foundation with the ability and willingness to work hands-on.
  • Experience improving accounting processes, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop an accounting team.
  • Multi-location or distributed operations experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition, payroll and labor-related expenses, and financial reporting.
  • Comfortable operating in a growing, entrepreneurial environment with the opportunity to improve and build processes.
