SC State University Public Service & Agriculture, in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture, provides an important public service to rural and underserved individuals, families, communities, and farmers needing access to the latest research-based science and sustainable practices in youth leadership development, agriculture, financial management, business development, nutrition and college and career readiness. SC State 1890 Research & Extension is seeking to hire a 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent for the Upstate Region.
Duties and Responsibilities for Entry into this Position:
Under the supervision of the Upstate Regional Director, the 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent will:
โ€ข Oversees the program area and provides leadership to the regional 4-H and Youth Development Program. Organizes and conducts 4-H and Youth Development projects in the 4-H and Youth Development program areas which are Civic Engagement, Healthy Lifestyles, Financial Management, STREAM, and Volunteerism.
โ€ข Provides leadership for 4-H and Youth Development project activities to meet the needs of youth in accordance with the Extension Model/Civil Rights/Affirmative Action Guidelines.
โ€ข Uses the 1890 Extension Service Delivery Model (ESDM) recommendations along with appropriate technologies to plan and deliver 4-H Youth Development programs through workshops, seminars, conferences, one-on-one visits, field trips, and tours.
โ€ข Networks and builds coalitions with other federal, state, and local agencies, organizations, and institutions to address the complex youth and family issues and needs of the 4-H and Youth Development Program.
Minimum Requirements for Entry into Position:
Individuals should possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, family and consumer sciences, sociology, psychology, or related areas with three (3) years of satisfactory professional job-related experience to include teaching activities in youth development areas.
Preferred Requirements for Entry into Position:
Preferably, the individual should possess a master's in education, social sciences, family and consumer sciences, sociology, psychology, or related area with at least five (5) years of satisfactory professional job-related experience to include teaching activities in youth development areas.
