Position Information

New Hanover County's Health and Human Services Centralized Services team is seeking a customer focused Administrative Technician, who will perform a variety of general office functions to provide administrative support to the assigned department. Duties may include directing communications between colleagues and customers, organizing appointments, entering data, bookkeeping, and maintaining office equipment.
Other Essential Duties:

  • Provides administrative and customer service support by serving as the primary office receptionist, assisting citizens in person, by phone, and in writing, preparing correspondence and reports, and maintaining office schedules, appointments, and travel arrangements.
  • Coordinates office operations and records management by maintaining electronic and physical records, processing mail, managing personnel files and training records, ensuring compliance with records retention requirements, and safeguarding confidential information.
  • Processes financial and purchasing transactions by preparing and reviewing purchase orders, invoices, payment vouchers, petty cash reimbursements, and maintaining accurate financial documentation.
  • Supports daily office functions by maintaining office supply inventory and equipment, assisting with onboarding and training new employees, responding during emergency operations, and performing other related administrative duties as assigned.

Hours:
Hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Must be available to work during emergency situations.
Salary Information:

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year of clerical, data entry, administrative support or related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the specific position as listed above.

Licenses/Certifications

Some positions may require:

  • License as a Notary of Public for the State of North Carolina,
  • Valid North Carolina Driver License required by first date of employment with good driving record.
  • NC Property and Casualty Insurance License within six (6) months of employment.
