As of Jul 26, 2026, the average hourly pay for 4 10s in the United States is $18.27, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.38 and $20.19 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What does 4 10s mean for work?

For a job involving 4 10s, it typically means working four days a week with ten-hour shifts each day, resulting in a 40-hour workweek. This schedule is common in industries like manufacturing, construction, and maintenance, allowing for extended days and longer weekends. Employees often need to manage fatigue and adhere to safety protocols due to the longer shifts.

What skill pays $100 an hour?

In the context of a 4 10S work schedule, high-paying skills such as specialized trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing), advanced technical skills (e.g., software development, cybersecurity), or professional consulting can command rates of $100 an hour or more. These roles often require certifications, experience, and expertise in their respective fields.

How does working a 4/10s schedule impact collaboration with team members who may have different work schedules?

Working a 4/10s schedule—four 10-hour days per week—can offer a better work-life balance, but it sometimes means your days off don't align with colleagues on traditional 5-day schedules. To maintain effective collaboration, it's important to communicate proactively about availability and set clear expectations for meetings and deadlines. Many teams overcome these challenges by using shared calendars, flexible meeting times, and digital collaboration tools. This structure can also foster focused, uninterrupted work periods, but staying connected with the team requires intentional effort.

What are 4/10s jobs?

4/10s jobs refer to work schedules where employees work four days per week, with each workday consisting of 10 hours. This alternative schedule is often used to provide employees with an extra day off, commonly referred to as a 'three-day weekend.' Many industries, such as healthcare, manufacturing, and public services, offer 4/10s shifts to improve work-life balance and reduce commuting time. However, these schedules may not be suitable for all types of jobs or personal situations, so employers and employees should carefully consider the pros and cons before adopting the 4/10s format.
